The VHS Volleyball team is headed towards a very exciting season. With a new JV coach and some amazing wins under their belt, the Volleyball girls have a lot to offer.

“I’m excited to get better this season… I think that as the season moves on each week, we will get more into our groove and continue to win some games,” said sophomore Ava Butler.

It seems that the team has had a great start, with JV and varsity combining to win three out of four games in their first week. A new edition to the team, sophomore Sarah Cooper adds that her team mates are the highlight of playing the sport.

“We have a good energy, and it makes playing the game even more fun,” said Cooper.

While some sports teams have a one person who may be considered the “most valuable player,” (MVP) senior Hannah McArthur disagrees.

“I honestly don’t think we have MVPs on the team,” said McArthur. “We’re not a team of superstars, we’re all good players that play better as a team than individually.”

However, every team has its weaknesses.

“We can get down easily when things start to go bad,” said McArthur, “but we’re definitely focusing on playing the way we know we can and giving it 110 percent.”

After losing against Forks twice in a row, the team is aware of the problems they are facing and working hard to make a comeback.
