Imagine walking into a beautiful garden with your Homecoming date and losing track of time as you dance the night away under twinkling lights.

The theme for this year’s Homecoming is Secret Garden.

“What we’re thinking about for decorations is vines, cute little lanterns, and twinkly lights,” said Co-ASB Vice President Hannah McArthur.

Homecoming will take place on October 29 at Burton Lodge. The dance will start at 8 p.m. and end at 11 p.m.

The set-up for photos will be similar to the photo booth featured at prom in May, with photos being printed directly to a photo strip.

“We hired Seattle Facebooth,” said ASB Secretary Abbie Fiano. “They provide a backdrop, props, and an attendant….  You can go and push the button, and there are printed copies, and then you can also get a digital image sent to you.”

McArthur and Fiano are both seniors.

Homecoming activities and spirit days will begin the week before the dance, continuing through Friday.

Monday, October 24 will be PJ Day. There will be an assembly for students to watch the preliminaries for both boys volleyball and girls dodgeball. The seniors will play the freshmen, and the sophomores will play the juniors. Voting for royalty will take place in second period.

Tuesday, October 25 will be Tie Dye Day, and there will be a lip sync competition in the lunchroom during lunch time. All groups need to submit music information and lyrics to Kara Sears by October 20.

Wednesday, October 26 is Superhero vs. Villain day. At lunch, there will be a “Minute to Win It” competition between the classes, with two students from each grade competing. Final voting for king and queen will take place during SMART period.

Thursday, October 27 is Decade Day. Freshmen are 2000s, sophomores are ‘90s, juniors are ‘80s, and seniors are ‘70s. Well-known music from each decade will be played in the cafeteria during lunch.

Friday, October 28 is Class Colors Day. Freshman are gold, sophomores are green, juniors are white, and seniors are black. There will be an assembly for boys volleyball finals, girls dodgeball finals, the presentation of the homecoming court, and a cheer dance.

After school, there is the powder puff game from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., followed by a community dinner in the lunchroom and courtyard from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., the boys football team will begin their senior night activities, before taking on Charles Wright at 7 p.m.

During the 20-minute halftime, two floats will be paraded around the track, one made by the freshmen and sophomores, the other made by the juniors and seniors. The Homecoming court will be presented in convertibles and the king and queen will be crowned.

Students can sign up for the activities and floats by filling out a Google Form that was shared with the whole school by Fiano.

“Students that will be riding on the floats will be the float makers and the ASB students from the classes, and they have priority,” said Fiano. “If there’s room left, then other students can ride on the float[s].”

ASB is still working out a few kinks; however, students will have many fun activities to liven up the week leading up to Homecoming.
