Rant: Changing a song halfway through at lunch
I was sitting with my friends at lunch, just jamming out to a song being blasted out of speakers at the front of the cafeteria, when suddenly, someone changed it.
Changing a song half way through it is super rude and annoying. The music in the lunchroom is for everyone to listen to, not just one person. Even if someone might dislike a song, it doesn’t mean everyone dislikes it. Also, these changes just mess with the flow of the playlist, making it all jerky and messy. If it’s inappropriate and we can’t play it, I understand (because it’s school), but if someone just “doesn’t like it,” they should just add earbuds and not listen.
Rant: Bottle-flipping
When I’m sitting at a lunch table or in a classroom, I don’t want bottles flying everywhere. The whole water bottle-flipping trend needs to die for good. It’s annoying and pointless. It doesn’t make people cool, especially if they’re doing it across the lunch table every day or in the middle of class when the teacher is talking. If all your happiness depends on you throwing water bottles, and you absolutely cannot restrain yourself, at least don’t make a big deal out of it. Put the water bottles away or drink out of them.
Rave: Secret Santa
Having Secret Santa in classes and clubs makes a day at school feel more homely. I mean, who doesn’t want a little bag of happiness during school hours? Secret Santa is also an opportunity to get to know people in your class better. It makes a group of people feel more like a community.
Rave: Teachers staying late after school
Sometimes when a student doesn’t understand something and there isn’t SMART that day and they can’t talk to the teacher during school, it’s really nice when a teacher stays after school. When a teacher stays late after school, it is not only is really helpful, but also shows that they actually care about their job and are dedicated to seeing students succeed. Even just staying an hour or two after to answer a few questions helps so much. Honestly, there is nothing worse than a teacher that you can never reach after the bell has rung. So, I’m giving a shout-out to those teachers (we all know who they are!) that stay after school to help their students.
