Rant:
Leaving Lunch trays out
Have you ever walked around the school at the end of lunch? Well I have. I’ve noticed that several students leave out their trays at the end of lunch. This is both irresponsible and disrespectful towards our janitorial staff. Think about if that were you who had to clean up after everyone’s left over lunch. Picking up other people half eaten food! Gross! We are high school students; these four years are a step towards adulthood. When you are all grown up and living on your own, no one will be around to clean up for you. Please learn these skills and apply them to your lunch trays! Simply pick them up, dump off the food and drop them in the conveniently located plate and utensil collection bins in the lunch room and great hall. Next time you start to walk away from your plate stop and think about how easy it may be for you to put away one plate and how long it will take our janitors to collect them all.
Rant:
Large Crowds Blocking the Front Doors in the Morning
Every morning it’s a struggle to get into the building because of the crowd that lingers in front of the doors. Students clumped by the doors are always too immersed in their conversations to notice others. It’s really not that hard to find another place to talk. The entire great hall is open, yet no one takes the opportunity to move 15 or 20 feet and clear out the space with the most traffic in the mornings. Please move aside and make room for those who just want to get into the building.

Cookie Day Every Day
Remember last year when cookies were only sold on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays? That’s changed this year! Now students can get their dose of homemade sweets at the student store any day of the week! No more sitting around on a Tuesday or Thursday and wishing you could go get a cookie that might just take that horrible test you took third period off your mind. Whether you had a horrible day or a great one, there will always to be cookies to make it better.

New Smart Attendance
A few weeks into the year, the administration changed the way our SMART teachers take attendance. Now we don’t have to waste time waiting for our SMART teachers to take attendance before we can leave and head to the classroom we need to go to. I know I had to wait outside my SMART teachers room to let us in and then wait even longer for our teacher to actually take attendance. There were several times I needed to go somewhere, usually to retake a quiz, and I would have to reschedule because I wasted all of my time waiting outside my SMART period. Now we can be marked “present” in any classroom. No longer will we have to wait in order to leave and go take a missed quiz or get help from a teacher. Now more of SMART can be a productive work time.
