Stay tuned for the top 2022 movies

TV platforms are constantly adding new content to their platforms, so we compiled a guide to the best movies in your favorite genres. Riptide conducted a poll asking VHS students to vote for their favorite genres- between comedy, action, romance, drama, mystery, and horror. The polls came back with action coming in first at 34 percent of the votes, comedy coming in next at 29 percent of the votes, and romance coming in last at 23 percent.
Using three movie review websites, we figured out the top movie from 2022 in each genre.
Starting off with the genre with the most votes—-action. According to IMDB, the most popular action movie of 2022 is “Bullet Train.” “Bullet Train” is the perfect action movie for thrill seekers. This movie was directed by David Leitch, starring actors Brad Pitt, Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Sandra Bullock, and Bad Bunny. Set on the world’s fastest train, Brad Pitt starring as Ladybug and Aaron Taylor-Johnson starring as Tangerine are on a mission to complete their task of retrieving and delivering a briefcase, when many obstacles get in their way. With many plot twists, this movie will have you on the edge of your seat!
The next genre with the second highest amount of votes was comedy. According to Martin CID Magazine, the number one 2022 comedy movie is “Thor: Love and Thunder.” Produced by director Takita Waititi, starring actors such as Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, and Tessa Thompson. As Thor, Chris Hemsworth, is about to retire, he is called on a mission to save the galaxy from Gorr the God Butcher who wants to reach eternity by killing all the Gods. Realizing he can’t do it alone, he builds a team with an unexpected member. Based on Marvel Comics, this hilarious action-packed movie will never leave you bored.
The third and final most popular genre was romance. According to Seventeen, the most popular movie in this genre as of 2022 is “Marry Me.” This rom-com directed by Kat Coiro is the perfect feel-good film. Starring actors such as Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, Maluma, and John Bradley. When the main character, a singer named Kat Valdez—-played by Jennifer Lopez— is about to say the big “I do” on stage and tie the knot, she finds out that her fiance is cheating. Although hurting, she sees a man in the audience holding a sign asking if she will marry him, and— out of the blue—- she accepts. He challenges her to do things for herself and to look deeper than the gloss on the surface. The film follows the pair’s relationship as it develops and through the challenges they encounter. This light hearted film has such spectacular acting; it almost feels real. If you are interested in this movie, just start watching to follow along with them on their journey.
Whether you enjoy a fast-paced movie with lots of action or a slow-paced movie capturing a romance unfolding right in front of your eyes, there is a movie for you. Hopefully now you have a couple good movies that are interesting to add to your list.
