“Harry’s House” is a home for all

Harry Styles has been a well-known icon for quite some time now. From being in the famous band One Direction as a teenager to now becoming an independent music sensation. Styles was inspired to produce music of his own after watching a singing contest in his hometown Holmes Chapel, England from a young age. After his debut in the British series “The X Factor” with four other boys, they continued on to build up their boyband known as One Direction, which is well known to be one of the best-selling boy bands in the world. Five albums later, the group realized it might be best if they split up and continued to pursue solo careers. All of their solo careers have been successful but Styles has made the biggest impression of all. Styles’ solo career teaches him how to express himself more freely in music and other arts such as acting and fashion. “I just realized that I find writing to be very therapeutic — I think it’s when I allow myself to be most vulnerable,” Styles said in NYT Article(Coscarelli, 2017) after releasing “Harry Styles,” his debut solo album. “It’s exciting to kind of share a piece of me that I don’t feel like I’ve really put out there before.”
This new vulnerable and artistic side Styles shared with the world shocked people. Before he wrote music independently, many only knew him as a heartthrob boy band member. Since that album, he has released two more albums, “Fine Line” in 2019 and “Harry’s House,” released May 20, 2022. In just the first few weeks since its release, “Harry’s House” has already been a huge success, making him one of the top three most listened to artists on Spotify this month. Styles also topped the charts once again with his hit single from “Harry’s House,” “As It Was,” which is currently the most listened to song on Spotify. The opening song of his album is definitely a fan favorite with its silly title “Music for a Sushi restaurant” and bright, playful lyrics. He has many other songs similar to “Music for a Sushi restaurant” where you just want to groove your heart to every melody. One of those songs is a personal favorite “Satellite” which starts with a slower melody then leads into a burst of sounds filled with fun. But if you’re more inclined to a slower heartfelt song I would definitely recommend “Matilda” or “Love of my life”. These two songs touched every part of my heart when first hearing them and remind me how truly musically talented and intimate Styles is. I believe each of Styles’ albums has its own unique story and vibe; in “Harry’s House,” he made something new we havent seen from him before with distinct electric sonic-sounding music. He delivered a 42-minute album that gives lyrics to decipher and delivers music, making you feel like you are enveloped in the comfort of Harry’s life. He includes music about his family life, friends, dating life, and what brings him joy. Through the pandemic, everyone learned something new, and for Styles, he says, he realized that a home feeling isn’t from a house always but an eternal feeling from the people and things you surround yourself with. This album is definitely going to be another home for me and on constant repeat this summer.
