To Colby Merrill, former Riptide Reporter: As he moves on to college, his legacy of film reviews stays with The Riptide.

If you’re a movie fan, I’m sure you’re wondering if there are any more big projects coming out this year. Well, you’re in luck! Here are just some of the few new movies coming out in the last months of 2022.

Nov. 11, 2022 — “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is an upcoming superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Black Panther, and is the sequel to Marvel’s highly-rated movie “Black Panther.” “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” follows King T’Challa’s death and the fight to protect Wakanda from intervening world powers. Other details surrounding this movie are still a mystery.

Nov. 23, 2022 — “Bones and All”

Famous Italian film director Luca Guadagnino is directing another beautiful—if you can call it that—book-to-movie adaptation, starring Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell. “Bones and All” is a story about protagonist Maren, a cannibal, and her love interest Lee as they travel together on a 3,000-mile journey through the backroads of America. Will their love survive their differences?

Dec. 9, 2022 — “The Whale”

Directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Brendan Frasure and Sadie Sink, “The Whale” is an American psychological drama film about 600-pound English teacher Charlie who has decided to eat himself to death. At the same time, he tries to reconnect with his distant teenage daughter Ellie for one last chance at redemption.

Dec. 16, 2022 — “Avatar: The Way of Water”

“Avatar,” the highest-grossing film worldwide, is finally going to have a sequel. Characters Jake Sully and Neytiri have formed a family on the planet of Pandora and will do anything to stay together. However, a familiar threat rises and Jake must work with Neytiri and the army of the Na’vi race to protect their planet from the humans.

Enjoy watching!
