Winter Fashion Must-Haves

As the holiday season makes its way through VHS so do yearly trends and festivities. These trends consist of holiday snacks, cozy clothing, and ugly Christmas sweaters. Some VHS students express their appreciation for these trends and even some they hope to see evolve in time to come.
Ugly Christmas sweaters have been a beloved trend during the holidays across the U.S. and at VHS for many years.
“Oh, I think they are great… I want to get one this year,” sophomore Christian Kincade said.
Others expressed how they plan on getting a holiday sweater this year.
“I love ugly Christmas sweaters! I don’t have one but I’m going to get one,” senior Sean Ryland said.
While sophomore Maheyla Sorensen isn’t a big fan of the holidays, she thinks sweaters are a great way to celebrate.
“I think ugly Christmas sweaters are nice if you like [the holidays], [they are] a great way to [represent the season]. You don’t really have those for any other holiday,” Sorensen said.
Some are not into the ugly Christmas sweater trend so they might find a few others things to like among VHS students. Cozy fashion will always be an important part of the holiday season to keep warm and trendy.
“I really like knitted sweaters,” sophomore Makayla Joanis said.
Possibly some people won’t be into sweaters and that is why puffer jackets are a huge trend too!
“Puffer jackets are definitely a must-have for the holidays, perfect for the season,” senior Caitlin Jeffcoat said.
While others might be into more of the winter accessories to stay warm. Jackets are always a must-have but the smaller things keep everything positively warm and maybe not always thought of!
“If I’m being honest I’m a big scarf man, if I’m outside the school environment I’m wearing a scarf [and] a big old warm hat,” Ryland said.
Jeffcoat also agreed how accessories such as a good hat or scarf are necessary for the holidays.
“Gloves and scarves are other must-haves, they’re great accessories and really add to an outfit, along with keeping you warm,” Jeffcoat said.
It’s all about personal trends for people when it comes to comfort this holiday season. Some trends like to stick around like fun sweaters but others come and go!
“I want earmuffs to make a comeback and be trendy again, I think they’re super cute,” Jeffcoat said.
There are so many things that should make a comeback and that was just one that has been addressed which I think should absolutely come back. Earmuffs are absolutely adorable and definitely something everyone should think about adding to their closest this season.
The one thing every student said they needed for the season was some kind of winter treat to complete their holiday outfit. Whether it was a cup of hot cocoa, peppermint bark, muddy buddies, or chocolate-covered pretzels, everyone had a holiday treat must-have.
Kincade expresses how he makes trends to affect others’ holiday spirit.
“I make trends… a trend of being in the Christmas spirit,” Kincade said.
Whether some want to hop on some new trends, stick to traditions, or even make some personal trends, always know that the holiday season is an opportunity to find joy within and spread it to others.
