Senior Moses Trundle-Strachan has been playing soccer since the age of three and over the years became a standout player on the team. Finally, through trials and tribulations, Trundle-Strachan became a captain in senior year. Trundle-Strachan’s soccer journey during high school is remarkable from start to finish. When he made varsity in freshman year, his hopes were dashed just days later when the COVID-19 lockdown started.

“In freshman year, the first day that they decided on teams, I was on JV. Then the next day, I got moved to varsity. And that it was that Thursday school got shut down for COVID-19. And so that was the end of my freshman season,” Trundle Strachan said.

With COVID-19 stunting his first year of high school soccer, his career was off to a delayed start. However, in sophomore year, the team was very successful.

“Sophomore year, I made varsity again, and I would start some games and not start other games. I didn’t score a lot of goals that year, but I was on varsity so that was cool. Our team won the league. That was the farthest that we could go that year with there being no state [competition] because of COVID,” Trundle Strachan said.

In his sophomore year, Trundle-Strachan and the team performed exceptionally well. In his junior year, he faced more issues.

“Junior year, I was older, faster, stronger. I was really, really prepared to have a great season, and I was feeling really good. I felt like my touch was really good. And then the day before our first game, I hurt my ankle really bad. It was horrible. I had to wear a brace the entire rest of the year. So I missed the first two games,” Trundle-Strachan said.

This ankle injury would mean a bad season for most players, but Trundle-Strachan persevered and thrived through his ankle injury to have the best year of his career.

“Even after that, I just scored a lot of goals. I had to do some fitness on my own because I was injured for two weeks. But once I came back, I had a really good year, and we won the league. We got second in the districts. And then we went to state and lost our second state game,” Trundle-Strachan said. “That season, I had the most goals in the entire league. I had 21 in League, and I had 25 including districts and state. And, I won the league MVP.”

Trundle-Strachan has already had a great career so far. This year, as a captain, he is poised to lead the team to many wins.

“This year will be interesting because we’ve got a lot of freshmen, a little bit of a youth movement, which is really cool to see. This year has the potential to be really special. The team just flows really well so far. We’ve got our eyes set towards State and winning it all so I’m really excited,” Trundle-Strachan said.

In short, Trundle-Strachan’s high school soccer career has been nothing short of remarkable. From his early beginnings on the field to his current role as team captain, he has worked tirelessly to hone his skills and become a standout player.
