Top five sub-zero Christmas movies to not watch

“Polar Express” – Rating: 1.5/10

This is the worst film on this list but that isn’t saying much. The animation style is frankly terrifying, and the voice acting is terrible. Unlike the other movies that made this list, I have nothing nice to say. The plot isn’t exciting in any way, and it’s a film that is hard to sit through the first ten minutes. Even though this is a Christmas movie, it does not feel like one. It is an awful rendition of a some-what good children’s book, and it doesn’t spark any happy childhood memories unlike the movie “Elf” and “Let It Snow.” “The Polar Express” is an awful movie, and if you haven’t seen it, consider yourself lucky and find a better Christmas film to watch.

“The Santa Clause” – Rating: 2/10

To be blunt, this is a horrible movie that has few decent qualities. Although the plot can be seen as creative, it is executed in a way that makes it dull and uninteresting. The acting is mediocre, feeling lifeless at times. The characters do not have a personality of their own, leaving nothing to differentiate between them. There is so little happening in terms of plot and acting skills in this movie that I don’t have much to say besides it’s bad. “The Santa Clause” is a painstakingly slow film with nothing to redeem it, making you lose 97 minutes from your life.

“Elf” – Rating: 3/10

“Elf” is a film we all recognize as a staple for the holiday season, and—for many—it’s a film that is easy to enjoy during the wintertime. Will Ferrell’s character, “Buddy,” is one that people take delight in. His humorous character who can be comically dumb at times is what many people enjoy most about “Elf.” But eventually, I think it just gets repetitive and something that becomes a challenge to enjoy. It definitely feels like people appreciate this movie more because of the nostalgia factor and not because they believe it’s a good movie. It may have been something you could easily enjoy when you were younger, but now it simply isn’t worth the hour and a half of your life.

“Let It Snow” – Ratings: 3.5/10

“Let It Snow” is an unremarkable Christmas movie that most people probably forgot about. It’s not necessarily a bad movie, just one that is forgettable and most people don’t look forward to watching it for the holiday season. The plot is subpar—it makes an attempt at being original but has a few problems within it. It’s something we’ve seen before, and it feels lifeless. There isn’t a lot to say about this movie; it’s boring and doesn’t have many strong points within the plot. “Let It Snow” is slightly more entertaining than some movies on this list, but there’s still a long way to go to be considered a good Christmas movie.

“Die Hard” – Ratings: 4/10

“Die Hard” has two big downsides; the first one being it is not a Christmas movie, and the second is that it isn’t a good movie. While the argument that it is a Christmas movie is occasionally made, this is wrong. It is so far from a Christmas movie. Besides that, like I mentioned previously, this movie sucks. The plot is unoriginal and incredibly close to things we’ve seen other times, and while the acting is not as bad as “The Santa Clause” or “The Polar Express,” it still is not outstanding from the others. Out of all the movies on this list, it is probably the best, but that just makes it more embarrassing for the other films that made this top five list. It has to lose some points for not technically being a Christmas movie, which is why it has the rating that it does.
