Seattle International Comedy Competition
Calling all lovers of comedy! On Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021, from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the Vashon Island Theater, 32 comedians from around the country will compete to be the “last comic standing.” This is a great way to spend Thanksgiving Eve with family, friends, and the Vashon community. Tickets are $30 for general admission and $125 for a reserved table of four people.
WinterFest at Aeggy’s Farm
Aeggy’s Farm, a local farm stand on Vashon, is hosting a gathering of local artists and businesses to celebrate the holiday season. The event is on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021 from 11 – 4 p.m. at Aeggy’s Farm, 13609 SW 220th St. Vashon, WA 98070. Through rain or shine, there will be over 20 local artists and makers selling their goods. This event is replacing the Saturday farmers’ market in the Vashon Village Green and is an opportunity to buy gifts for family and friends this holiday season. It is fun for the whole family with live music, food, and drinks! Masks are required.
WinterFest 2021
Vashon Chamber of Commerce presents an annual tradition featuring a special visit from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. On Dec. 4, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m. there will be festivities to get in the spirit of the holidays. A market starting at 4 p.m. will kick off the fun at the Vashon Town Square, and a Santa parade will follow at 5 p.m. traveling into town on the Vashon highway. The annual tree lighting will take place at 6 p.m. to end the night, and it will stay lit up through the month of December to spread cheer!
VHS Band Concert
On Dec. 7, 2021, starting at 7 p.m., the Vashon High School (VHS) band is having a Wind Ensemble Concert. The event is free and open to families, friends, and the public. The event will take place in the VHS theater and is a wonderful opportunity to come and support a band full of talented students! Everyone will maintain social distancing protocols and masks are required.
The Nutcracker
This annual dance performance put on by Vashon Center for Dance is on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, at 7-8:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Vashon Center for the Arts Kay White Hall. A timeless holiday story full of swirling snowflakes, twirling flowers, and thrilling characters from a land of sweets, The Vashon Nutcracker is a delightful production for the whole family. The cast is composed of student classical dancers and performers. Tickets for students and seniors are $10 and general admission tickets are $15. Classic Pianist Concert
Pianist Asiya Korepanova is performing at the Vashon Center for the Arts Kay White Hall on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.. She is performing Liszt’s 24 Etudes as a single performance. Korepanova was born and raised in Russia and has traveled around the world performing classical piano. She has proclaimed national attention with her performances. Proof of vaccination is required for attendance along with masks.
