Rave: Chicken Burgers achieve “beloved” status
Every once in awhile, the lunch team grants us a taste of heaven by feeding us our beloved chicken burgers.
Sure, I’ve had chicken burgers from classic fast food chains like McDonald’s and Wendy’s, but there is something especially extraordinary about the chicken burgers that our high school provides. Even the vegetarian option is delicious.
Some people think that the pizza Friday rush is a special type of chaos, but in my experience, it’s nothing compared to the rush for chicken burgers. As lunchtime draws near, students can be heard asking each other what day is it. The only acceptable response is “chicken burgerrrrsss,” spoken with passion and excitement.
Please, lunch team, hear our cry and feed us more chicken burgers.
Rant: Ant problem crawling into the study dens
I invite all of you reading this to take a journey over to the lower den of our school to view the ever-present trail of ants that comes out from under the couches to eat our crumbs. This new school shouldn’t have acquired a pest problem already.
Fortunately, the problem seems to be localized, but the ants have not yet left the school. As I’m not a pest-control expert myself, I don’t know the best way to get rid of ants, but I assume cutting off their food supply wouldn’t hurt.
So students, please clean up your food when you are done eating so that our lovely school does not become infested. I don’t know if administration is aware of this problem, but it doesn’t make our school look super good, so let’s each do our part to clean it up.

Rant: Teachers need to quit doubling up on assignments
I know that teachers have a lot to teach and not a lot of time, but it’s still awful when they assign a project, daily assignments and tests and quizzes to study for almost every week.
Every year somebody publishes something crying out to teachers in the hopes that they will have mercy on the poor students juggling five classes other than their own. Yet unfortunately, it still needs saying since students continue to be bulldozed by relentless workloads from every class.
So I’ll say it again: Teachers, please remember that all of your students have five other classes a day, with almost all of them requiring work outside of the classroom.
Rave: Mom Day should be celebrated
Moms are great.
They make you food, drive you around and love you despite you being a constant disappointment. If it weren’t for your mom, you would not even exist.
So take some time to celebrate and thank your mom(s) this Sunday, May 14, also known as Mother’s Day! Make her some breakfast in bed, get her some flowers, and spend some time showing her how much you appreciate everything she does for you.
We love you, moms!
