Rant: Chromebooks
I grow frustrated as the login screen pops up on the screen of my Chromebook. Recently, the Chromebooks throughout the school have been configured to automatically logout when a student closes the lid. This has led to much frustration, as students who unintentionally close the lid of their laptop have to constantly re-login to their computer. While the purpose of protecting careless student’s information is important, there must be a better way to go about it.
Rant: Parking
It is 7:52 as I pull into the school parking lot. In the rush to get to class, I scan the crowded lot for a place to park. There it is, the one empty space at the end of the row. As I cruise down the line of parked cars, I am confronted with a ghastly sight. A oversized pick up truck parked at a 45 degree angle to the curb crushes my hopes and dreams of getting to school on time. It frustrates me to no end that people cannot take the extra few seconds out of their day to park correctly.
Rave: Kale Salad
Over the past few weeks, the lunch ladies have taken a step up. While the entrees have stayed relatively the same, the salad game has been completely changed. Kale salad has started making an appearance in the school lunch scene, taking a hint from the local food culture. Recently, we had a kale Caesar salad, a mix of my two favorite kinds of greens, and the addition of croutons was a major plus. Take that, Michelle Obama!
Rave: Free periods
Free periods are a hot commodity. My free period is usually used to work on college applications or homework for school. It creates more time for me to focus on my other classes, rather than spreading myself too thin with yet another class. Sometimes, my free period allows me to get things done I absolutely wouldn’t be able to otherwise. For example, one day, I couldn’t get an eye doctor appointment any other time besides 2:30, during my free period. This permitted me to get, not only educational help, but also medical help that I needed.
